Ruth Goodman
Ruth was born in London and now lives in Hertfordshire as a practicing animal artist. Her love of painting was fostered by her parents and later developed through studying at degree level. Ever since she was a small child she has been fascinated with animals for their beauty, feel, shape, size and texture of their skin and fur.
She considers animals to bring a certain presence to a place or situation, you can’t help but look at them and be fascinated. She hopes that her work brings that same intrigue and presence by it’s scale and attention to detail. She creates paintings that are larger than life and have an impact when hung in a room.
They are beautifully painted, incredibly detailed and intriguing. She firmly believes that the eyes are crucial to drawing in the observer, yet also give a sense of calm and peace. Ruth mainly works to commission using photographs. Acrylic paint is her prime medium as it is fast drying, quickly enabling layering of paint, creation of texture and use of vibrant colours. Ruth is a member of the Association of Animal Artists and Herts Visual Arts Forum where she works in school liaison.
