Patsy Slew

I studied a GNVQ level 2 in Art and Design in 1992, which included 2D design, 3D design, photography, life drawing, visual studies and graphic design. After this course I chose to pursue a BTEC National Diploma & Degree in Graphic Design. After graduating I worked as magazine designer and embarked on freelance projects.

My heart has always been in drawing and although my artistic style incorporates vibrant colour I also like to work on simple pencil sketches. I enjoy drawing animals and I try to focus on the eyes to add character. I also like to use abstract shapes within some of my drawings using acrylics and inks. I am influenced by many artists some of whom include Aubrey Beardsley, Bridget Riley and Mark Rothko. But my main influence is Saul Bass, an illustrator and graphic designer who I discovered whilst writing my dissertation on the design of film title sequences.
