DEREK DEWEY - LEADER
Derek Dewey-Leader is a licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society and a member of two of their specialist groups, Contemporary Photography and Nature Group. He is a lifelong photographic enthusiast and is former chairman of Welwyn Garden City Photographic Society and a member of Herts Foto Forum.
Derek leads an experimental photography group for Welwyn Garden City Photographic Club which encourages photographers to work creatively outside the mainstream of landscape and portraiture work. He is a lifelong motorcyclist and enjoys capturing the art work portrayed on modern motorcycles.
His main interests include photographing nature and wildlife from birds to seals and whales, specialist areas such as macro photography of insects, sea shells, and botanical subjects.
He has travelled extensively in America, Australia’s Northern territories, in Northern China, Tibet and the deserts and ancient cities of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, India Baluchistan and Waziristan, and the North West frontier of India and Pakistan including the Khyber Pass.

He has visited many of the American National Parks and made several visits to Yellowstone Park to capture the colours of the hydrothermal regions in this area of fires, bubbling hot mud pools geysers, hot springs and fumaroles. It is an area famous for its hot waters of pools and springs.
