With a style considered more illustrative than painterly, Caroline’s subject matter glorifies the beauty of nature, both fauna and flora. She is an award-winning artist and illustrator whose artwork sits in two opposing ends of the genre spectrum - Realism and Fantasy. Her preferred mediums are pen, ink, coloured pencil and acrylic, with the more-than-occasional dash of metallic leaf. She has also produced a Floral Abstracts Collection featuring a range of colourful abstract designs created from her own photographs of plants and flowers which are then digitally manipulated. These designs are showcased on her Limited Edition silk scarves, throw pillows and Tote bags.
Born and raised in Thailand, Caroline was exposed to an exotic and colourful environment, living there at a time when 70% of the country was still forested! Her life was further enhanced by the glorious fauna and flora prevalent in East and South Africa, where she then lived for 17 years. She feels deeply about the demise of our wildlife and planet, and is currently producing a series of paintings and illustrations depicting critically endangered, vulnerable and threatened animals to help raise awareness of and funding for their plight. Some of her work strives to portray real and raw world and human issues through narrative illustration, colour and strong imagery or symbolism, bringing visual delight without detracting from her message.
Caroline’s Fantasy illustrations are inspired by a childhood introduced to a wide range of culturally different fairy tale and mythical characters. Her work tends towards extreme detail, encompassing hidden and whimsical elements which can be interpreted differently depending on the viewer. She hopes to capture her audience’s attention in such a way that every time they look at one of her drawings, they discover something new.
Caroline has exhibited at galleries in the Rep of Ireland and England and sold to buyers from the UK, Rep of Ireland, Europe and the States. She is a member of the Association of Illustrators (UK) and the UK Coloured Pencil Society.
More recently Caroline has illustrated a childrens book that can be found at the following links:
Caroline is inspired by Nature’s own gallery and palette of vibrant colour and this is reflected in her bright and original Floral Abstracts Collection. Using her own photographs of plants and flowers, she digitally manipulates them to create the finished and unique designs.
She believes that colour has the power to lift our spirits, soothe and excite us; neither should it be limited to age nor gender.
