BRENDA KIRK

I was always doodling and drawing from a very young age and the subject was almost always horses.

I did "O" level art then after completing a Secretarial Course the following year I worked as a receptionist and discovered that this was not what I wanted to do so I went to Harare Polytechnic to start a 3 year Graphic Art Course.  Once I completed that I got a job in an art studio for a year before travelling to the UK.

I did a number of things involving art to keep my hand in.  I painted ostrich eggs and exhibited at Hatfield House Art and Craft Show in 1996.  I had small jobs designing chalk boards for local pubs and designed greeting cards featuring my character Shaggles, a cartoon sheepdog who I have been drawing since I was in Year 11.

After reading the article in the Welwyn/Hatfield Times about PS Arts Gallery,I met Sharon who was the most welcoming, encouraging, enthusiastic person I had ever met and she got me all ambitious and painting again. So here I am!  I hope you enjoy!
